Water Taxi of Oklahoma CityTake a ride on the Water Taxi of Oklahoma City for a fun, 40 minute round-trip adventure. If you want to see the Oklahoma City Canal, this is the best way to do so. When my parents came to visit one summer, we all decided to head downtown OKC and see some of the sights. As we walked along the canal, we opted to ride the water taxi. Since you can board a water taxi every 10-15 minutes, it didn't take long before we were gliding down the canal. Water Taxi of Oklahoma City makes sure that it's "drivers" (also known as Ambassadors) know about the history of the area, so we learned a lot about the sights along the canal while enjoying the lovely evening.
You will not believe this...It happened to be my birthday, which is one of the reasons my parents came to visit, so I made a remark to the water taxi driver that I thought getting to drive the flat bottom boat would be a great birthday present. Surprisingly, he agreed. Not far from the Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World, I was given an opportunity to steer the boat. I did fine for all of about 20 seconds, then I started to head for the left bank, so the driver had to take over again. So, driving for Water Taxi of Oklahoma City isn't in my future, but it was fun to do once. The Best of OKC
That was SO funSome of the local attractions that the water taxi serves are:
When you want to buy tickets for the Water Taxi of Oklahoma City, go to Mickey Mantle Blvd and the ticket booth is at street level. You can buy tickets on-line, too, but they won't be at the ticket booth for 24 hours and you will need a photo ID and the confirmation paper to pick them up. Rates:Regular all-day pass - $6.50Age 65 & over - $5.50 Age 5 & under - $1.00 The water taxi runs every day from April to October, starting at 10:00am and ending at 10:00pm. When there are special events, the water taxi runs for an extra hour after the event, even if that means it runs after it's usual schedule. The only time the water taxi will not run is when the weather is bad. You can check the online service advisory on their web site or you can call 405-234-8262 to be sure it is running.
Water Taxi of Oklahoma City also provides options for charters, too. The boats seat up to 40 passengers and you can choose to have drinks on the cruise or even have a photo of your group taken. If you're in Oklahoma City and plan a visit to the downtown area, you should really consider taking a water taxi ride. We had a delightful time and I think you will, too.
