Weather

Although we never encountered a tornado in Oklahoma, many people have, including my brother and sister in law. They saw the F5 tornado in 1999. They had just moved from an apartment to a house a few weeks prior to the tornado hitting and it was a true blessing as the entire apartment complex was leveled in the storm.

To find out about weather conditions in Oklahoma, call 405-425-2385 or visit www.okladot.state.ok.us. The National Weather Service can be reached at 405-360-5928 or at www.srh.noaa.gov/oun. It definitely is nice that they're located in Oklahoma, too.

Getting to Oklahoma City

There are so many places to go and things to do if you travel in Oklahoma City, it is hard to know just what to mention. I think it might be helpful to point out the various ways to get to Oklahoma City.

  • By Air: There are over 200 flights into and out of Will Rogers World Airport daily. Just in February 2006 alone, more than 246,300 people got onto or off of airplanes at the Oklahoma City airport. There are at least 10 different airlines that fly into Will Rogers each day.

  • By Land: Oklahoma City is approximately the center of the U.S. and several highways intersect here as a result of that. I-44, I-40 and I-35 all come through Oklahoma City.

  • By Bus: Trailways, Jefferson Lines and Greyhound all service the Oklahoma City terminal. Each bus line has differing schedules and rates, so you will need to check with each one individually to find out what works best for you.

  • By Rail: Amtrak comes through Oklahoma City, too. You'll want to check their schedule to find out which other cities they service to and from OKC.

When you travel in Oklahoma City, you are sure to have a lot of fun. It doesn't matter if you plan your trip minute by minute or if you see the sights spontaneously. The city is filled with fun, cultural events, great food and plenty of entertainment.

So, get ready to have a great time!
