Ford CenterOklahoma City's Ford Center
Our first venture to the Ford Center was about as perfect as one can get. My husband and I went to see Phil Collins in concert. Oh, wow. It was my second time to see Phil Collins and my husband's first and we were treated to a fantastic show by a master entertainer. The man is simply a musical genius. It also didn't hurt that our seats were fantastic, but then, in such a great facility, good seats are the norm. The Ford Center hosts a wide variety of sporting events, ice shows, concerts and more. The center is actually owned by the city of Oklahoma City. It first opened in 2002. About Ford:The 586,000 square foot facility features four seating levels and a press level with a maximum seating capacity of 20,817 for a concert set in-the-round. One thing that I found out about the Ford Center, which I thought was interesting (and I don't know why I never considered this before), the arena floor is actually 22 feet below street level. Ok, so that's not a monumental piece of information, but I thought it was interesting. The Best of OKC
What I really need is for someone to explain to me why these different seating capacities exist. Tickets:Everything, including ticket prices change with the event. What I really need is for someone to explain to me why these different seating capacities exist. Look at this:Seating Capacities:Arena Football - 17,868 Basketball - 19,599 Concert (Center Stage) - 19,711 Concert (End Stage) - 19,231 Concert (Theatre Style) - 4,961 Hockey - 18,036 I understand how a theatre style concert can seat a smaller number of people than an end-stage concert, but I can't figure out how an arena football game seats fewer people than a basketball game. I guess I need to go to the Ford Center and see more sporting events, yes? The Oklahoma City Blazers play their hockey games at the Ford as do the Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz with their arena football games. I haven’t been to one of those games yet, but I know how much fun hockey games are, so that may be something our family can do one day. Of course, if I had my way, I would just watch Phil Collins once a week.
